FAQs

Planning an eco-friendly, sustainable wedding is important to us. Can you help?

Absolutely – it sounds like we share the same values. I care deeply about the environmental impact of my business. I also believe flowers should be presented in a way that reflects and reinforces their importance in nature.

To minimise my carbon footprint, I use locally grown and British flowers wherever possible. When this isn’t an option, I try to choose Fairtrade imported stems. Fairtrade certified farms must ensure safe working conditions for their employees. They tend to work closely with local communities and employ practices designed to minimise any potentially negative impacts on the environment.

I also employ sustainable floristry techniques and avoid single-use plastic in all my work. This means you won’t find floral foam in any of my designs. Also known as Oasis, one block contains the same amount of plastic as 10 carrier bags. It’s non-biodegradable, non-recyclable and toxic for both humans and animals.

While I love using trailing silk ribbons for my bouquets, I opt for vegan-friendly bamboo ‘silk’ or cruelty free peace silk which is harvested after the moths have flown.

Which areas do you cover?

I’m based in the South West, covering Bristol, Bath, The Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire. I’m also happy to consider travelling further afield for select weddings. Please get in touch to discuss the location of your event.

How far in advance do we need to book?

Most couples enquire at least nine months to one year before their wedding is due to take place. Sometimes they get in touch even earlier, but as a rule I don’t accept bookings more than 18 months in advance.

I also work with couples organising weddings on a much shorter timescale. While I tend to be booked in advance, it’s always worth checking whether I can accommodate your wedding date.

How many weddings do you take on per day?

I only ever accept one booking per day. This allows me to focus solely on you and give your wedding flowers my full attention.

We don’t know anything about flowers. Will this be a problem?

Not at all. It’s my job to be the expert. I’m always happy to answer questions and I can advise you on everything from what’s in season to the best flowers for your chosen colour palette.

Is it possible to meet you before booking?

Of course! I consider it essential, so I offer consultations in person or via Zoom. Not only is it vital we get to know each other, but you must also feel I understand and share the vision you have for your wedding day.

How should we prepare for our consultation?

I’d recommend giving some thought to your budget and the amount you’re comfortable investing in your wedding flowers. It can also be helpful to consider your preferred colour scheme and any must-have items. Figuring out your priorities will make it easier to divide up your budget, but please don’t worry if things feel a little vague. We can work through all the details together.

We’re certain we want to work with you but we’re yet to choose a colour scheme/decide exactly what we want. Is it still possible to book?

Definitely. Please get in touch to discuss securing your date in my diary. We can confirm the finer details of your booking in the future.

Why are wedding flowers so expensive?

Flowers are a natural product which means they’re very sensitive to supply and demand. Natural events like bad weather or a late frost can hamper supply and drive-up prices. Since January 2020, Brexit has also impacted the cost of flowers.

Of course, when you commission a florist, you’re paying for much more than flowers alone. A great deal of work goes into creating what you and your guests eventually see on your wedding day.

Once the detailed design work has been completed, flowers are carefully chosen, ordered and collected from local growers and wholesalers. They then need to be conditioned and cared for to ensure they look their best. Different flowers have different vase lives, so this can mean multiple trips over several days. There’s always plenty going on behind the scenes too. The price you pay includes things like venue visits, ordering sundries, sourcing bespoke items, and designing and testing floral mechanics.

Finally, floristry is a highly skilled profession. My fee doesn’t simply cover the time it takes to create a design, it reflects the knowledge and experience required to do my job to an incredibly high standard.

Do you have a price list?

No, my work is completely bespoke and unique to each couple, so everything is priced on an individual basis. However, to book my services you must commit to a minimum investment of £6,000.

How much should I expect to spend?

There are many factors to consider when pricing a wedding including design, flower choices, colour palette and the time of year. My advice is to set an overall budget and ask your florist how best to use it across your day. For example, I often recommend focussing on a few larger designs rather than spreading the budget thinly across lots of smaller items that won’t create the same overall impact.

As mentioned above, to book my services you must commit to a minimum investment of £6,000. Beyond this, I can give you a rough idea of cost during your consultation followed by a detailed written proposal and quote shortly afterwards.

Why is there a minimum investment to book your services?

The minimum investment is partly dictated by my use of premium locally grown, British or Fairtrade imported flowers of the highest quality. The natural, abundant style of my designs is also a factor. As well as using a high volume of stems, I rely on sustainable, plastic-free floristry techniques to achieve my signature look. The minimum investment also reflects the personal service I provide, and the time, care and attention given to each couple.

What about vessels and vases?

I have some lovely options you are more than welcome to hire. If you want something I don’t have, we can look into sourcing it for your wedding or event.

Will you install everything and clear down afterwards?

Yes. Some designs must be created in situ, but even those that don’t will be carefully placed on your behalf. I will also hand deliver your bouquets and buttonholes on the morning of your wedding day.

After your event has finished, I will return to remove any large installations, collect hire items and retrieve any flowers left behind. I always ensure the venue is left exactly as it was when I arrived.

Do you charge for delivery and set-up?

Yes, these costs will be clearly itemised in your bespoke quote. The fees cover mileage and travel time as well as any time needed for set-up and clear down.

Are there any hidden costs?

No, none. I choose to itemise my quotes so you can see exactly what you’re paying for including any additional floristry assistance, van hire (if required) and the time it takes to set-up and clear down.
